    The Texas County Sheriff's Department, headquartered in Guymon, OK is a full service law enforcement agency. The department has two divisions, detention and patrol. The Detention Division is responsible for the 24-7 operations of the Texas County Detention Facility. The facility houses pretrial inmates, inmates that have been convicted and sentenced to serve their time on the county level and inmates who are awaiting transport to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The facility is supervised by the jail administrator, who answers to the Captain of Detention. The patrol division consists of the uniformed deputies that are responsible for patrolling the 2,049 square miles that make up the county. The patrol division responds to calls for service outside the city limits of those towns within the county which have their own police department. Patrol also assists the other agencies within Texas County. Many times you will find deputies assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with accidents and you will also see deputies assisting the area police departments within the county. Patrol is also responsible for transporting inmates to the Texas County Courthouse for court appearances. Within patrol is a full time investigator. The investigator is responsible for investigating major crimes and those crimes that a patrol deputy is unable to devote the appropriate time to. Patrol also has several K-9 handlers who have been highly trained with their dogs. The K-9 units are trained in narcotics detection, suspect apprehension and tracking. Patrol is led by the patrol sergeant, who answers to the chief deputy.

    The Texas County Sheriff's Department is warning the public about a scam involving a phone call from a person posing as a Deputy James Marshall.

    The caller tells the potential victim that he/she has warrants for his/her arrest for failing to appear for jury duty. The caller tells the victim that he/she can avoid court by paying off the warrants. The victim is then instructed to purchase pre-paid cards and call the number back. The reported call came from the number .

    • Be suspicious of anyone calling and demanding or soliciting immediate payment, especially by gift cards, or wire transfers such as money gram or western union.
    • Ask for the caller’s identity and independently contact the agency. Do not call the number that appears on your caller ID.
    • You can learn information about the phone number that called you by using google and reading what others have posted about that specific number.
    • Do not disclose personal or financial information to unsolicited callers by phone or by email.
    • Do not wire money or provide bank account numbers or financial transaction card numbers (credit, debit, Green Dot, or any other prepaid card) to anyone you don’t know.
    • Law enforcement and government agencies will not demand or solicit payment over the phone by any of these methods.
