Sex Offender Search and Lookup:
In most cases, individuals convicted of a sex-related crime (also called sex offenders) are mandated by law to register on the sex offender database of the jurisdiction they live in. Their name and other information will also be published in the National Sex Offender Registry that is maintained by the US Department of Justice. Both systems are open to the public as a safety resource.
The definition and laws governing sex crimes differ in every state. In general, sex crimes are illegal acts that are sexually motivated and committed against another person. While there are differences in how some states would classify certain crimes, there are certain crimes that are widely accepted as sex crimes such as rape, sex trafficking, sexual assault, and child molestation. In some states, unlawful imprisonment of a minor and public urination are also considered sex crimes.

While the state of Ohio believes that all information entered into the database is reliable, in no way can they guarantee that it is completely accurate. In some cases, you may get information that has not been updated such as the previous address of a sex offender. Another example are vague information such as the listing of the block the offender resides in but not the exact address.
