Bail and Bondsman

Arrested persons who need to show up at a trial and want to remain out of jail must post a bail in the amount ordered by a judge at the time of the hearing. If you don’t have the bail amount from the court order and want to avoid incarceration, you can look for help from an authorized Missouri bondsman. A bondsman will post the required amount for a service fee, which is usually around one tenth of the full bail amount and is non-refundable. When offenders miss their trial date the bail amount posted for them is lost (forfeited). Bond agencies then send a bounty hunter to arrest the non-compliant perpetrator.

On November 6th a Deputies responded to the area of State Route V and County Road 2002 for a report of suspicious activity. Dispatch advised the Deputy that a U-Haul truck had been in the area with a male driver and a female passenger who were acting suspicious.

A short time later Dispatch received a second call of suspicious activity with the same description of the subjects in the area of County Road 6002 and County Road 8041. The Deputy responded to that area and conducted an area canvass with negative results.

The Deputy was able to locate the vehicle parked at the Howell Cemetery. He made contact with the female subject who identified herself as Tamara Shireman (DOB 3/14/91). Shireman stated that she was by herself and was driving around the area trying to find a place to stay. The Deputy advised Shireman to stay in front of his patrol car while he checked to make sure no one was in or around the U-Haul. Shireman seemed very nervous and didn’t want the Deputy around the cab of the vehicle. She would not give the Deputy consent to search the vehicle stating that she did not have time for him to search although she said she was waiting for someone to pick her up as she did not have a valid driver’s license. She gave the Deputy the rental agreement for the U-Haul stating that she and Jason Mucke (DOB 11/25/82) had rented the U-Haul in Belton. The rental agreement did not have either of their names on it. Shireman stated that she had dropped Mucke off at Taco Bell in Butler at around 11:30 that day so someone could pick him up to do construction work.

The Deputy then advised Shireman that someone had seen her and Mucke throw tools out of the truck and had gotten their license plate number. The Deputy asked Shireman to call Mucke and find out his whereabouts. But she stated that her phone was dead even though a few minutes prior she had asked the Deputy if she could call him. Shireman was placed inside a patrol vehicle while the Deputies conducted their investigation.

A call was placed to U-Haul in KCMO so told the Deputy that the U-Haul had not been returned and now was considered stolen. The Deputy then searched the U-Haul and located a small plastic bag that contained a crystal substance. He also located two used syringes. There were four large logs located in the back of the U-Haul. Shireman was placed under arrest and transferred to the Bates County Jail. The U-Haul was towed from the scene.

Multiple Deputies and Troopers conducted an area canvass to try and locate Mucke. A text alert was sent out to the public asking for their assistance in locating him. Dispatch received a call from someone stating they dropped a man, who met Mucke’s description, at Taco Bell. Butler Police Department was asked to respond to Taco Bell. A Butler Police Office made contact with Mucke in Taco Bell and transported him to the Bates County Jail.

Also on this day a Deputy responded to a residence in County Road 2002 stating that a door to her residence was open and items inside the house had been moved. The Deputy was able to obtain a dusty shoe print on a board that was next to the door. A hot water heater and a fuse box was missing from the house. A large mirror over the bathroom sink had also been broken. The dusty shoe print was a perfect match to the shoe that Mucke was wearing.

At this time Mucke and Shireman have been both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 grams or less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. Both of their bonds were set at $30,000 cash or surety.

Mucke and Shireman are currently being held in the Bates County Jail. More charges are expected to be filed against them.
