Bail and Bondsman
If you are charged with a crime, posting bail will enable you to stay out of jail while you wait for your day in court. This means that you will need to lodge money with the court in order to assure them that you will still appear at your trial after you have been released. If you miss a court date, then your money will be forfeited. A bondsman is a person who can post bail on behalf of a defendant for a fee. This kind of service is usually used by defendants who cannot afford to pay the bail on their own. The bondsman’s fee is usually 12% of the bail amount. This cannot be refunded.
